A few staff changes, and some new positions have us expanding the NZGBC team. We're thrilled to welcome Bobby, Zara, Bhumika, and Pam to the NZGBC whānau!
Bobby Shen is our new Business Development Manager for existing buildings, looking after the Green Star Performance, NABERSNZ and CarboNZero tools. He is a Green Star Accredited Professional since 2015 and brings his experience in architectural design (commercial/industrial) and improving existing buildings. He likes to think of sustainability holistically, from passive design principles to buildings being intuitive for users; identifying ways to design sustainability into buildings, new or old.
He is a strong advocate for climate action and healthy built environments. He is very involved in the community he grew up in at Mt Roskill and is an assessor for the new Sustainable Real Estate online course for the University of Cambridge UK, where he did a sustainability course last year. He holds a Master of Architecture (Professional) Hons from the University of Auckland, where his thesis explored culture, community, and connections.
In his spare time, he likes to explore Tāmaki Makaurau’s cycle network on his trusty ebike or pull out weeds at the local stream restoration group in Lynfield, which he finds cathartic.
Bhumika joins us as Technical Coordinator - Green Star. A Master of Architecture Professional graduate from the University of Auckland, Bhumika has previous experience working on residential projects in an architecture firm. She is passionate about her thesis research focusing on how architecture can be used as a tool to encourage spatial equality and duality for marginalised women.
Bhumika enjoys activities with an adrenaline rush, but in her spare time she likes to stay connected to her artistic/design side through painting.
Pam is the Finance Coordinator at the NZGBC working with clients and staff members to ensure bills are paid, and payments are received on time.
Training at AUT, she completed the exams of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.
She worked at Air Liquide New Zealand Limited for 10 years, followed by two and a half years at Attwoods Packaging.
Outside of work Pam plays the Pipe Organ and Piano for Greyfriars Eden Epsom Presbyterian Church and drives a Nissan Leaf.
Zara joins us as Technical Coordinator. Originally from Pakistan, her family migrated to New Zealand in 2018. Zara has a Bachelor and Masters in environmental sciences. She is passionate about the environment and is keen to play her part in creating a carbon-neutral world by 2050. She sees her role at the NZGBC as a perfect platform to advocate how buildings can reduce our climate change pollution and shares our vision of transforming the sector.
Away from work Zara cherishes spending time with her four year old daughter
