What you need to know

Adequate ventilation is likely to be the main requirement to bridge the gap between a code compliant home and a 6 Homestar home.

On their own, openable windows are not adequate to properly ventilate a home, yet this is the basic requirement in the current NZ building code.

In past webinars we have addressed the science and some of the options for residential ventilation in Aotearoa. Now as more project teams look in more detail at Homestar v5, it’s timely to dig deeper and review the fundamentals of ventilation.

We’ll look at why the NZ building code is inadequate, common misconceptions about continuous mechanical ventilation, and ensure the best outcome at the right price.

If you have an example you’d like to share, then take this opportunity to get some advice from our panel of experts. Send a floor plan or project scope for our panel to consider and if selected as an ideal example, we’ll discuss design, installation and commissioning as part of this webinar. Please email the details to events@nzgbc.org.nz
