Carlaw Park has played an important part in the history of Auckland City, with its unique location, bordering The Domain, Auckland’s Central Business District and Parnell. Originally the site of a flour mill, it became Chinese market gardens in the late 1800’s. Rugby League grandstands and terraces were built in 1916 and by 1921 Auckland Rugby League made Carlaw Park its home. The buildings are medium rise to a maximum of four floors with each floor having been designed to maximise efficient flow and light throughout the precinct and an emphasis made on minimising any detrimental impact on the occupiers’ useable floor space as much as possible.
