With over 20 years of experience in the housing and construction sectors, he has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities for creating healthier, more resilient, and more efficient buildings and homes.

Brad Crowley

Industry Relations Manager, New Zealand Green Building Council

Brad has overseen the transformation of the Green Star rating tools, driving greater industry participation and integrating best practices in carbon reduction, waste minimisation, and cultural engagement. 

With over 25 years of experience in environmental strategy, auditing, and advocacy, he brings a systems-level approach to climate resilience and regenerative design. Brad is passionate about creating buildings that not only minimise environmental impact but actively reconnect people with nature—fostering spaces that promote wellbeing, ecological awareness, and a deeper sense of place.

Joe Bartley

Senior Development Manager, Metlifecare

Joe has 22 years’ experience in property and urban planning, including almost nine years with Metlifecare. As a member of Metlifecare’s Property Leadership Team, he has extensive experience across land acquisition, masterplanning, design, development and delivery of large-scale retirement village communities throughout New Zealand.

Joe has played a key role alongside the wider Metlifecare team in the development of Ōtau Ridge in Clevedon – Metlifecare’s first Green Star Communities-rated development and one of New Zealand’s first retirement village communities to achieve this milestone. His involvement has given him first-hand insight into embedding sustainability principles into the planning, design and delivery of a new retirement community, including the opportunities, challenges and lessons that come with pursuing Green Star Communities certification.

Mike Conlon

Head of Project Delivery, Ruakura Superhub at Tainui Group Holdings 

Michael Conlon is Head of Project Delivery for Ruakura Superhub at Tainui Group Holdings (TGH), where he leads the delivery of one of New Zealand's most significant logistics and industrial developments. With nearly three decades of experience spanning infrastructure, project delivery, manufacturing and property, Michael has held senior roles with TGH, Fonterra, Coda Group and Heinz. 

At Ruakura Superhub, he works across complex commercial, infrastructure and development projects that are helping shape the future of freight, logistics and regional growth in the Waikato.

Matt Wilson 

Green Star Accredited Professional, Eco Insite

Matt Wilson is a registered architect, sustainability consultant and director of Eco Insite. With more than two decades of experience in residential design and environmentally sustainable development, he works with project teams across New Zealand to improve building performance, reduce environmental impact and deliver healthier, more comfortable homes. 

Matt is a Homestar Assessor, Green Star Accredited Professional and a long-standing contributor to the development of New Zealand's residential sustainability tools. He has served on NZGBC's Homestar Technical Advisory Group and Homestar V5 Advisory Board, helping shape the future of sustainable housing standards in Aotearoa.

Anika Forsman 

Director Communications & Engagement, NZGBC

Anika Forsman leads communications, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, membership, events and industry partnerships for NZGBC. She works across the built environment sector to bring together industry, government and communities to accelerate the delivery of healthier, lower-carbon and more resilient buildings and places.

Before joining NZGBC, Anika was Director of Stakeholder and Communications at Te Ara Ahunga Ora Retirement Commission, where she led New Zealand's National Strategy for Financial Capability. With experience spanning communications, engagement, partnerships and public policy, she is passionate about helping organisations connect purpose with action and driving positive outcomes for people, communities and the environment.

Andrew Steele 

Senior Environmental and Civil Engineer at Tonkin + Taylor 

Andrew Steele is a civil engineer with more than 20 years of experience developing engineered environments for public and private infrastructure.

His multidisciplinary approach combines conventional engineering with nature-based practices to create solutions that are both functional and resilient. With a background in biology and freshwater ecology, alongside expertise in hydraulics and hydrology, Andrew designs innovative stormwater systems and stream channels.

He works collaboratively with fluvial geomorphologists, ecologists, engineers, and landscape architects to deliver integrated projects with strong form and function. His work includes blue-green networks, natural stormwater design, and the creation of healthier, more sustainable urban environments.
