The NZGBC acknowledges that an integrated three-bin system is not always feasible and that council-provided compost caddies are not available in all districts. Therefore, a contractor-supplied compost caddy is also acceptable as a means of compliance with the third bin requirement under LV3: Eco-Friendly Living. The remaining criteria must still be met for points to be awarded (a collection service and an accessible external space to store food scraps, or home composting facilities).
