2026 NZGBC pricing updates
We know it’s a challenging time across the property and construction sector. That’s why any changes to our pricing are made carefully, with a strong focus on continuing to deliver value, impact, and support for our members and the wider market.
From 1 July 2026, NZGBC will introduce a modest 3% increase across membership, education, and selected certification services, in line with inflation.
At the same time, we’re making a targeted adjustment to NABERSNZ certification pricing, reflecting both its rapid growth and changes to funding support.
Supporting better buildings in Aotearoa
NZGBC exists to accelerate the development of healthy, low-carbon buildings across New Zealand.
Through membership, advocacy, certification, and education, we help organisations reduce operational costs and emissions, create healthier and higher-performing buildings, and stay ahead of market, regulatory, and investor expectations. Our work also supports the shift toward electrification, helping drive long-term energy efficiency and cost savings across the sector.
Our tools and programmes are trusted across the industry and aligned with international best practice, supporting New Zealand to keep pace globally.
NABERSNZ
NABERSNZ is a key part of this work and continues to build strong momentum across the market. Adoption is increasing as more building owners, tenants, and investors look for credible ways to measure and improve operational performance.
Part of a globally recognised framework aligned with NABERS in Australia, NABERSNZ provides a consistent, independent benchmark for building performance. Its scope is also expanding, now covering offices as well as warehouses and cold stores, shopping centres, and retail buildings, broadening its relevance across the property sector. As expectations continue to rise, NABERSNZ is increasingly seen as a standard way to demonstrate how buildings are performing in use. Strong growth in operational performance ratings NABERSNZ and Green Star Performance has helped limit the rise in fees for these tools.
NABERSNZ pricing update
For many years, NABERSNZ has benefited from government funding support via EECA, which has helped keep certification fees relatively stable. However, recent reductions in this funding mean that, to maintain a high-quality and credible scheme, pricing needs to adjust. From 1 July 2026, NABERSNZ certification fees will increase by $500 across all typographies.

Discounts and support remain
We remain committed to supporting participation across the market. Discounts will be available for smaller buildings, those registering more than three ratings at the same time, and re-ratings. There is also a combination discount for rating energy and water at the same time for the office tool.
