From risk to resilience: adapting the built environment to Aotearoa’s diverse conditions                                                                                                                                        New Zealand’s built environment spans an exceptionally diverse geography — from coastal settlements and floodplains to alpine regions, seismic zones and rapidly growing urban centres. These varied environmental conditions already impact the design, construction and performance of buildings and asset portfolios. The increasing variability in conditions across Aotearoa is placing new demands on assets that were often designed for more predictable conditions.

The template for Climate Adaptation Planning                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                To support industry leadership and consistency, the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) is hosting a webinar to launch a new template to guide Climate Adaptation Planning, developed in association with Sam Parsons (Boffa Miskell) and peer reviewed by experts in this field including James Hughes (Tonkin + Taylor). The template is designed to help building owners, designers and developers move from awareness to action — translating location-specific risk awareness into clear, proportionate and defensible adaptation planning.
