Senior Manager - Buildings & Communities - NZGBC

Brad is the Manager of the Green Star rating tool where he assists the Green Star team and identifies new opportunities to use the quiver of Green Star tools (Design and As-Built, Performance, Interior, Communities) to make buildings better.

While getting his Geography Master’s degree back in the late 1990s Brad first heard about Sustainability and Green Buildings. Ever since he has been advocating for green buildings and sustainability including starting up his own business creating and installing rainwater catchment systems in Portland, Oregon.  Brad has a positive outlook on seeing what he and NZGBC can do to encourage healthier and more environmentally friendly buildings and communities in Aotearoa.

Joe Quad

Manager - Buildings & Communities - NZGBC

With a background in mechanical engineering and sustainability consulting, Joe is a key part of the Green Star team. He helps projects achieve their sustainability targets and develops new standards to continually challenge the construction industry to strive for more environmentally friendly buildings.

After completing his degree in Building Engineering in Montreal, he spent almost a decade working in the consulting roles on a wide range of projects across New Zealand, Canada and the US. Initially focusing on mechanical engineering, his passion for the environment quickly drew him into the world of sustainable building design.

NZ Sustainability Lead - NDY

Justin works to deliver leading sustainability solutions across the built environment, encompassing key issues such as resource efficiency, whole-of-life impacts, climate resilience, ecological impacts, human health & wellbeing and community impacts.
He is genuinely passionate about pushing the industry forward, to make meaningful contributions in addressing climate change and positively impacting the community and future generations. With a background in mechanical design engineering, he understands that these challenges require innovative, practical and scientifically-rigorous sustainability solutions.
Phoebe Moses
Phoebe Moses

Carbon Navigator - Beca

Phoebe Moses is the Carbon Navigator and team lead for the Beca Sustainable Buildings team based in Auckland.

In this role, she has provided carbon-related advice, assessments and analysis for buildings across a wide range of sectors, with a focus on embodied carbon emissions in construction. A chartered structural engineer, she provides targeted and nuanced low-carbon design solutions for clients in the built environment - from the early stages of a project assessing where the greatest carbon reductions can be achieved, through construction and managing real outcomes through the supply chain.

She is an advocate for design teams to take ownership of the carbon in their projects. With a recent Masters in Environmental Sustainability from the University of Edinburgh, she incorporates broader trends across the sustainability landscape into a holistic Environmentally Sustainable Design perspective.

Saatyesh Bhana

Head of Sustainability - Argosy

As Head of Sustainability for one of New Zealand’s largest listed property developers, Saatyesh has been with the management team for over 17 years, 11 of these years were managing, developing and growing the Wellington portfolio.  

Saatyesh is a passionate advocate for quality, efficient workplaces that attract high calibre tenants. With the team at Argosy, he has delivered Wellington’s first two 5 star Greenstar commercial buildings being Te Puni Kōkiri and 15 Stout Street and recently Argosy’s team delivered Wellington’s first 6 star Greenstar building being 8 Willis Street.  

Today, Saatyesh is responsible for the greening of key development projects within Argosy’s $2.2b portfolio to NZ Green Building Council (NZGBC) Green Star certification standards. Argosy has completed six certified projects since 2014, with a further five buildings in the submission process presently. 

Saatyesh is an active leader in property and construction circles. His responsibilities include driving awareness and education on the value of sustainability and collaborating with Argosy’s stakeholders to positively influence the wider market.
