Green Star Advanced - Performance

What you need to know

With an increasing focus on the sustainability of existing properties, Green Star Performance provides a framework for verifying sustainability claims and planning improvements to create a lower-carbon, more environmentally positive property sector. With over 60 buildings currently using Green Star Performance in NZ, this is a great way to start working with the buildings around you. 

Green Star Performance looks at different aspects of sustainability in a building’s operations: energy and water are mandatory credits, then there is building management, transport, indoor environment quality, emissions, materials (including waste), land use and ecology, and innovations. The tool celebrates things that a building has achieved in these areas, but also provides guidance on how to achieve best practice in areas that have space for improvement. 

This course is great for: sustainability professionals, property professionals, facilities managers, Green Star Accredited Professionals, NABERSNZ Assessors, clients who are thinking about rating their existing buildings. 

The course will cover: 

• The New Zealand context for existing buildings 

• The need for electrification 

• The certification process and key resources to use 

• Putting together a good submission 

• Exercises around sustainability outcomes for your buildings 

• How to plan improvements to your building 

This training provides two qualification pathways: 

1. If you have done the Green Star Fundamentals training, you will be eligible to attain the Green Star Accredited Professional – Performance qualification once you pass the exam. This means you are well equipped to prepare Green Star Performance submissions, and your qualification will contribute to the Green Star Accredited Professional credit in the rating tool. There is an exam component to this pathway, done in your own time, during the 2 weeks following the course. 

1. If you have not done the Green Star Fundamentals training, you will be eligible for the Green Star Associate - performance qualification. You will still have the knowledge to help with the certification. This is a great pathway for facilities/buildings/asset managers who assist with getting documentation ready for submissions. You will not be required to complete the exam.
