Beyond the Why

Why wait another year? Green Property Summit is going annual! This August we’re back to bring you the best ideas, case studies, and inspirational leaders in sustainable building. Based on feedback from past years, you understand what needs to be done and why we need to move faster to a low-carbon future, all that remains is the how. Green Property Summit 2024 aims to support you to make it happen.

Green Property Summit is for those keen to explore the latest in sustainable commercial property; from developments in valuation and ESG, to the expectations of building portfolios and performance. The programme includes lessons learned from the country’s largest mass timber building – Tauranga Council’s 90 Devonport Road project, diving deeper on tackling embodied carbon, and electrifying existing buildings. Our mates from Green Building Council of Australia and NABERS will be heading across the ditch to share their insights and updates.

Whether you’re building a new industrial complex, manage an office building, or are working to support clients on their sustainability journey, Green Property Summit 2024 promises a jampacked programme full of inspiration, education and discussion from leading national and international experts.

Green Star's Future Focus

In response to the climate emergency and market forces across net zero, resources and circularity, health and wellbeing, Green Star Buildings proudly stands as the response to these megatrends. In the two years since launch, investors and developers are confidently seeking sustainable finance while also working with contractors to "tread lightly" creating opportunities for people and communities. Jorge shares the reaction of the Australian market to what is now a holistic approach to sustainable buildings.

Jorge Chapa, Green Building Council Australia           2.35pm-3.00pm
Case study - Open for business. 80 Ann Street, Brisbane. Australia's first 6 star Green Star Building

Mirvac's 80 Ann Street stands proudly as a sophisticated 32-story Brisbane office building provides a progressive solution for the city’s subtropical climate. Fashioned as a tower-on-podium it is publicly accessible from three different points and includes retail and indoor landscaping for pedestrian traffic and creating a friendly environment.

Cris Johansen, Mirvac          3.35pm-4pm
Aligning Mātauranga Māori

The technical working group challenged Green Star to better recognise Māori and the intersection between environmental stewardship and economic development while preserving culture and quality of life. The result is the Tohu Māori Ora credit within Green Star Buildings NZ providing recognition and reward that goes beyond certification.

Bobby Shen, New Zealand Green Building Council

Tyrone Newson, Ngāti Awa Group Holdings Limited
