Course overview

This course is essential for built environment professionals currently working with, or planning to use, the Green Star Buildings certification. You’ll gain the skills, insights, and confidence to contribute meaningfully to Green Star projects.

It is ideal for professionals across architecture, engineering, construction, project management, and sustainability consulting who are working on projects targeting Green Star Buildings certification in New Zealand, or plan to in future. 

Please note: Completing this course does not automatically make you a Green Star Accredited Professional (GSAP). GSAP status is awarded after passing the optional post-course exam. If you choose not to sit the exam, you will be recognised as a Green Star Associate.

  • Understand the responsibilities of a GSAP and apply best practice in managing Green Star documentation

    • Minimum expectations

Green Star Advanced course FAQs

In order to attend the Green Star Advanced course, every attendee will need to have completed the Fundamentals course.

  • If you have already completed the Green Star Fundamentals (originally named the Practitioner course) you are all set to register to the Green Star Advanced course.
  • If you haven't, please register and complete the Green Star Fundamentals course first.

For Green Star Practitioners who completed their Practitioner course prior to July 2022, you will need to complete the Green Star refresher video.

This course is designed for those who wish to make Green Star project submissions to the New Zealand Green Building Council. Generally, potential GSAPs will have professional qualifications in related industries such as engineering, building science, quantity surveying, sustainability in the built environment, architecture, project management or similar professional expertise. However other related experience and skills may be acceptable. If you are uncertain whether your background will be appropriate,opriate please contact NZGBC.

Green Star accreditations are valid for one year before you will be asked to renew. You will be emailed an invoice one month before your accreditation is due to expire.

Green Star Associates are required to complete 6 continuous professional development (CPD) points annually.

Green Star Accredited Professional (GSAP) are required to complete 10 CPD points annually.
