Who is this course for?

This course is for professionals who want to become certified Homestar Assessors—qualified to lead projects through the Homestar certification process. As a Homestar Assessor, you’ll be the only one authorised to carry out and submit a Homestar assessment.

Homestar Assessor course FAQs

To attend the Homestar Assessor course, participants must have completed the Homestar Fundamentals course and meet one of the following qualifications or experience requirements:

  • Architectural designer or architect
  • Engineer
  • Building scientist or technologist
  • Quantity surveyor
  • Licensed Building Practitioner (Level 2 or 3)

This technical accreditation requires knowledge of home design and construction in Aotearoa, the ability to read and interpret house plans, and a basic understanding of building science. If you believe you have equivalent experience, please contact us.

Yes. To gain the full Homestar Assessor accreditation you will need to complete the following:

  • Online examination - to be completed within two weeks of attending the course
  • Successful completion of at least one full Homestar Assessment. The registration fee for this first project is waived for new Assessors when registering within the first 6 months of attending this course
