Continuous Professional Development

If you are a Green Star Accredited Professional , Homestar Designer or Homestar Assessor, you are required to complete 10 continuous professional development (CPD) points and pay a renewal fee every year to retain your qualification. These points can be earned through a range of NZGBC and non-NZGBC activities.

CPD points FAQs

A CPD point will be awarded for events, actions or programmes that:

enhance your own knowledge and understanding; or contribute to others’ knowledge and understanding, of sustainable built environments

or

enhance your own knowledge and understanding; or contribute to others’ knowledge and understanding, of the NZGBC rating tools

CPD points are awarded only for activities with substantial educational content.

Requirements

In order to be eligible for a qualification renewal, GSAPs or Homestar Designers need to gain 10 CPD Points and Homestar Assessors need to gain at least 12 CPD Points- at least 5 from NZGBC activities - every annual renewal cycle.

Applications for recognition of an externally provided event must be accompanied by proof of attendance and a detailed copy of the programme content

Some externally provided programmes may be pre-approved. If so, these will be posted on the NZGBC website. Evidence of attendance will still be required.

If you hold one or more qualification in Green Star, you will only need to do 10 CPD points total.

If you hold a Green Star and Homestar qualification, you will need to gain points for both qualifications.

1 point per instructional hour for all approved NZGBC events/masterclasses and webinars

1 point for all approved non-NZGBC courses and events

6 points for full attendance at an NZGBC summit

If you are carrying out assessments under Homestar or Green Star, these may be used to contribute to your CPD points.

Homestar - Homestar Assessors who submit one or more projects in the two year period can claim 4 points.

Green Star - Lead GSAPs on one or more registered projects in the two year period can claim 4 points. Assessors who complete 4 assessments in the two year period may claim 4 points.

  1. Download and complete the CPD Points Claim Form.pdf
  2. Attach any required supporting evidence
  3. Email form and attachments to our Professional Development Team

 

When your points are approved you will be notified and you will see the allocation on your website profile.
