Senior Manager - Buildings & Communities - NZGBC
Brad is the Manager of the Green Star rating tool where he assists the Green Star team and identifies new opportunities to use the quiver of Green Star tools (Design and As-Built, Performance, Interior, Communities) to make buildings better.
While getting his Geography Master’s degree back in the late 1990s Brad first heard about Sustainability and Green Buildings. Ever since he has been advocating for green buildings and sustainability including starting up his own business creating and installing rainwater catchment systems in Portland, Oregon. Brad has a positive outlook on seeing what he and NZGBC can do to encourage healthier and more environmentally friendly buildings and communities in Aotearoa.
Technical Director: Climate & Resilience - Tonkin + Taylor
James has a 20-year career in the infrastructure and environmental sectors, and leads T+T’s climate change and resilience advisory practice. His career to date has also spanned work within infrastructure planning and design, risk management and sustainability.
James led the ‘Built Environment’ domain of NZ’s first National Climate Change Risk Assessment, and was part of MfE’s Climate Change Adaptation Technical Working Group during 2018. He has also been part of the Deep South Science Challenge, and in 2021 he led the development of MfE’s ‘Guide to local climate change risk assessments’. He has been involved with a large number of climate change risk assessments for regional and district Councils, as well as for the private sector – and recently he has also been researching and applying scenario planning methodologies as part of the Climate Related Disclosure regime in NZ.

Justin works to deliver leading sustainability solutions across the built environment, encompassing key issues such as resource efficiency, whole-of-life impacts, climate resilience, ecological impacts, human health & wellbeing and community impacts.
He is genuinely passionate about pushing the industry forward, to make meaningful contributions in addressing climate change and positively impacting the community and future generations. With a background in mechanical design engineering, he understands that these challenges require innovative, practical and scientifically-rigorous sustainability solutions.
Project Director & Sustainability Leader - Holmes ANZ
Lisa is the Sustainability Leader for Holmes ANZ. She is a structural engineer by training and is passionate about improving the sustainable outcomes of the projects she is involved with. Lisa has experience on projects of all shapes and sizes up and down New Zealand, and has worked out of the Holmes Auckland, Christchurch and Netherlands offices.
Lisa has been a NZGBC Green Star Accredited Professional since 2008 and is a member of the Structural Engineering Society’s Sustainable Design Task Force. Lisa is President of the New Zealand Timber Design Society, she co-authored the NZ Wood Design Guide on Post and Beam Timber Construction in 2020 and has been involved with the establishment of Timber Unlimited.
Sustainability and Research Manager - Landcom
Paul is Landcom’s Sustainability & Research Manager blending sustainability, resilience and environmental planning. Paul has 15 years’ experience working with a range of ESG frameworks for both the public and private sector across the globe. He currently drives Landcom’s own disclosure work with frameworks such as the GBCA’s Green Star program, Climate Active Certification, Global Reporting Initiative, GRESB and both the Taskforce on Climate-related and Nature-related Financial Disclosures.

Sustainable construction has played a significant role in Simon’s professional life. He has held essential positions within NZGBC since 2009. He is a trusted advisor to our broad client base on contractual and procurement matters. His extensive project management experience in a range of property sectors includes: commercial, healthcare, fitout, industrial, and public facilities.
Simon provides strategic property advice to public sector clients and significant institutional land developers. He has extensive skills and experience in aligning and managing leasing arrangements between landlords and tenants.
Simon has also contributed to the development of Site Master Plans such as the Whangarei Hospital Campus for the Northland District Health Board, building an excellent understanding of how capital works projects fit within a broader organisational context.
