Brad Crowley, Senior Manager - Buildings and Communities at NZGBC, hosts our panel who have achieved outstanding results for investors, developers, and tenants through Green Star Communities.
Pamela Chacon, Associate, Group Manager, and Senior Sustainability Consultant at Northrup, will share her extensive experience with GSC, including her role on the expert reference panel with Green Building Council of Australia, and her involvement in The YARDS precinct. She’ll also take us into some of the specific examples of the credits that were targeted across this precinct that includes an integrated park, walking tracks, cycle paths, extensive solar installations, water harvesting and recycling.
Tamara Williams, Senior Director of Strategy and ESG at Barings (formerly Altis Property Partners), will discuss The YARDS precinct and the motivation for pursuing the first 6 Star Green Star Communities industrial precinct in Australia. She will explain how GSC provided a framework to formalise amenities and practices, offering valuable insights and strategies used to attract tenants to this vibrant industrial community.
Natasha Mulcahy, Director of ESG Consulting Services, Pacific at CBRE, will share her experience gained in working on both sides of the developer/client relationship with case studies including the richly diverse, award winning, inner city development of West Village, Brisbane, developed by Sekisui House.

Brad is the Manager of the Green Star rating tool where he assists the Green Star team and identifies new opportunities to use the quiver of Green Star tools (Design and As-Built, Performance, Interior, Communities) to make buildings better.
While getting his Geography Master’s degree back in the late 1990s Brad first heard about Sustainability and Green Buildings. Ever since he has been advocating for green buildings and sustainability including starting up his own business creating and installing rainwater catchment systems in Portland, Oregon. Brad has a positive outlook on seeing what he and NZGBC can do to encourage healthier and more environmentally friendly buildings and communities in Aotearoa.

Natasha is CBRE’s Pacific Director of ESG Consulting Services and leads a multi-disciplinary team to deliver sustainability services across Australia and New Zealand. Natasha has a long history with the Green Star Communities tool, helping to develop the original framework in 2012. Since that time she has worked on major Green Star Communities projects for Sekisui House and Stockland, delivering sustainable precincts for more than175,000 people.
Since joining CBRE, Natasha has worked with some of the largest landlords across Australia and the world to deliver ESG strategy, sustainability certifications, and tangible, on the ground outcomes including energy reduction and net zero planning. Natasha is currently working with numerous industrial portfolio owners to deliver Green Star certifications across Australia and New Zealand, and delivered the first industrial Green Star Performance v2 certification in 2024 for a portfolio of 25 assets.

Pamela is a senior sustainability consultant and manager at Northrop Consulting Engineers, helping project teams realise the full potential for sustainable buildings and precincts. She has a passion for creating spaces where people and nature can thrive.
Pamela has led a number of Green Star Communities projects across residential and industrial projects. She led the certification of The Yards and was instrumental in achieving the 6 Star rating (highest rating available) in Round 1, this being the first industrial estate to have ever achieved the Green Star Communities rating.

Tamara Williams is a member of Barings’ Real Estate Team, responsible for the business’ ESG initiatives, ensuring that ESG is embedded across the business and adopted by all staff in their day-to-day operations. She is also responsible for ensuring that the ESG-related requirements from Barings’ investors and stakeholders are met across the real estate portfolio.
Tamara has worked in the industry for over 25 years and has experience in real estate finance, investment banking, funds management and responsible investing. Prior to joining the firm, she worked for APN Funds Management / Dexus as a senior funds management executive and Investec Bank as joint head of Property Funds Management Australia.
