In six months, on 1 January 2024, we will have just six years to halve climate polluting emissions. When we have achieved this, it will be the greatest success ever for our industry, and you’re going to be a key part of that success.
But it’s not going to happen without an almighty effort. And all our efforts here at the NZGBC are now focused on that one goal.
Our events are a key way we drive the change needed to hit the 2030 target. They help build alliances, showcase carbon busting projects, and encourage climate change action in the built environment.
Now we need to use our events to drive greater change.
One simple way we’ll be doing that is, from 2024, increasing the showpiece green building events we hold.
As well as hosting the Green Property Summit every second year, we’ll be adding another large, ambitious annual commercial event, in the alternate years. That gives our industry twice as many opportunities to learn, network, and get inspired at key green building events in the next six years. Alongside these commercial property events, we'll continue to run the ever-popular biannual Housing Summit next year.
While considering this shift, we’ve been talking to our good friends at Property Council, who have joined us in the past to co-host the Green Property Summit. We’ve warmly agreed with them that we’ll now host the Green Property Summit, giving them time to concentrate on their own events. A massive thanks to the Property Council team for all their mahi on this event.
