Joe Quad
Technical Manager - NZGBC
With a background in mechanical engineering and sustainability consulting, Joe is a key part of the Green Star team. He helps projects achieve their sustainability targets and develops new standards to continually challenge the construction industry to strive for more environmentally friendly buildings.
After completing his degree in Building Engineering in Montreal, he spent almost a decade working in the consulting roles on a wide range of projects across New Zealand, Canada and the US. Initially focusing on mechanical engineering, his passion for the environment quickly drew him into the world of sustainable building design.
Matthew Cutler-Welsh
Business Development Manager - Residential - NZGBC
Matthew leads work on healthy lower carbon homes at the NZGBC. Overseeing the auditing, research and for Homestar, the national standard for healthy lower carbon homes and buildings.
After completing his Honours Degree in Natural Resources Engineering Matthew now has 15 years of experience leading residential energy efficiency projects and education programmes in New Zealand and Australia. In 2016 he joined the Board of the Passive House Institute New Zealand.
An experienced presenter, facilitator and podcaster, Matthew has interviewed over 200 architects, builders and industry experts from around the World on the Home Style Green podcast.
Roger Adlam
Commercial Manager - Watersmart
Roger has over 28 years of experience in construction and plumbing. Dubbed Watersmart’s resident Sherlock Holmes, he has a nose for identifying issues and solving them on the fly – often before others even knew they existed!
He has a keen interest in how cutting-edge technology can deliver more sustainable outcomes and is always innovating ways to solve water challenges.
Every month we hold our increasingly popular webinar series, which has previously covered issues including construction waste, te reo Māori in the built environment, eco labels, social procurement, wellbeing and healthy buildings, climate change, and much more. We also run regular webinars examining specific products and materials, and their relationship with green building certifications.
