Andrew Eagles, NZGBC Chief Executive, travelled down to Kirikiriroa Hamilton last week to personally deliver the 6 Homestar built rating certificate for this 16-dwelling development.
These homes have been built with accessibility in mind and a community feel, centred around a communal green space. All the homes were built with high levels of insulation and thermally broken, low-e glass windows to make sure they are warm and efficient for the tenants. The development achieved high levels of waste diversion, an impressive feat in this part of the country, and made efforts to maintain the existing trees on site.
"I’m very pleased to receive this certificate on behalf of the project team including Rouse Construction our build partner. A great team effort across our team and in particular our quality assurance Assessment team Jon Witts and Brent Kerapa, for guiding us towards achieving this certification." - Nick Seymor, Program Director at Kāinga Ora.
Kāinga Ora are showing leadership in the house building market by raising the profile of providing sustainable homes to make sure all New Zealanders are warm, safe, and dry.
