Senior Manager - Existing Buildings, NZGBC
Bobby Shen is the senior manager at the NZGBC looking at existing buildings. This includes the rating tools Green Star Performance, NABERSNZ, and Net Zero Buildings.
He has a background in commercial architecture, sustainability, governance, and community development. In his role, he assists the property sector in Aotearoa to drive low-carbon and ESG responsive properties.
Head of Sustainability, Argosy Property Limited
Saatyesh has been with the Argosy management team for over 15 years and has 22 years’ experience working in various regions and sectors. During that time, he also been on the other side of the table acting as a tenant advocate.
His extensive experience with acquisitions, divestments, leasing and value-add projects reflect a collaborative approach with all stakeholders. Whilst at Argosy, Saatyesh has delivered four Green Star projects that involved the upgrade of existing buildings. These refurbishments were awarded 5 Green Stars of which the practical benefits of sustainability are well known.
Associate Sustainability Engineer, Beca
Adam is an experienced consulting engineer having worked in the UAE, KSA, UK and NZ. He has led the design of major projects across multiple sectors. Adams career has revolved around sustainable and low energy design with a recent focus on the decarbonisation of existing building stock.
Following his passion for low energy design, Adam completed a PhD in energy which looked at heating controls as a method to reduce fuel poverty in the UK. Adam relocated to NZ in 2022 where, as a sustainability consultant, he works with design teams to achieve sustainable project outcomes which are aligned with limiting the impact of climate change on their designs as well as portfolio emission reduction plans and building decarbonisation pathways. His varied background and international experience helps him think holistically about design problems and propose considered and pragmatic recommendations, taking into account the differing project drivers.
