After over 18months, the consultation process tailoring the new framework “Green Star Buildings” for the New Zealand market is almost complete. Join us for the third event in the series as we deep dive into each of the seven categories. 

The ‘Nature’ category addresses how Green Star aims to significantly drive uptake of biodiversity issues in the built environment, it encourages active connections between people and nature, and rewards creating biodiverse green spaces in cities.

The ‘Nature’ category addresses how Green Star aims to significantly drive uptake of biodiversity issues in the built environment, it encourages active connections between people and nature, and rewards creating biodiverse green spaces in cities.  

This event is suitable for architects, landscape architects, ecologists, climate change advisors, community engagement experts, sustainability consultants, and engineers with expertise on energy, water, and communications infrastructure issues.

Bhumika Mistry

Senior Technical Coordinator - NZGBC

Bhumika is a Technical Coordinator for Green Star, helping facilitate and manage the Green Star certification process for commercial projects. As a coordinator she is engaged in all stages of the certification and collaborates with assessors and project teams to achieve their Green Star ratings.

She previously worked as an Architectural Designer primarily focusing on building consent documentation.

Bhumika has a Bachelor of Architectural Studies and a Master of Architecture Professional from the University of Auckland. Bhumika’s Architectural thesis ‘Visible Morality’ focused on challenging the notion of commodification and exchange through theoretical discourse of western state-capitalism and power relations.

Mark Delaney

Director - Viridis Limited

Mark is an ecologist with more than 15 years’ experience. Mark has a proven track record of developing and conducting ecological monitoring programmes which meet specific objectives within defined timeframes. His work involves biological sample collection and processing, stream ecological valuations (SEV) assessments, native freshwater fish surveys, and writing freshwater and terrestrial assessment of effects reports.

Registered Landscape Architect - Boffa Miskell

Erin’s practice is defined by her commitment to shape communities for a more sustainable and liveable future. Her work as a landscape architect comprises a wide range of design projects, and includes large residential and retirement village development, open space and play space development in New Zealand and  overseas. Erin’s artistic passion for exploring and expressing the connections between people and place are complemented by her technical knowledge and extensive experience in landscape architecture.

A registered member of the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects (NZILA), Erin is also a Green Star Accredited Professional (NZGBC) and serves as a Technical Adviser and member of the NZGBC Expert Reference Panel. She is an Associate Principal at Boffa Miskell, where she is leading and developing the company’s Carbon Smart Design strategy to empower landscape architects and urban designers in making more sustainable design decisions for the future landscape.

Jess Pegg

Sustainability - NDY

Jessica is passionate about holistic sustainable design and delivering environmentally and socially sustainable buildings.

This passion has propelled her to be a senior leader within the NDY sustainability team in Melbourne. Jessica has had the opportunity to work across a diverse range of industry sectors, allowing her to gain experience working on office buildings, retail developments, sports and entertainment centres, residential buildings, and hotels. She understands the importance of achieving sustainable outcomes for all stakeholders on her projects.

Jessica is passionate about creating buildings that prioritise health and well-being, grounded in an understanding of people's needs within the spaces they inhabit
