PI collaborative carbon reduction

What you need to know

Reducing carbon is a team effort which should involve all building stakeholders. Projects can deliver the most impact in carbon reduction by designing in and considering measurement early-on. This includes quantity surveyors who often have the most accurate database of materials for a project when preparing accurate cost plans. Efficiency can be gained by using this as a resource to double as a carbon database rather than producing separate takeoffs for an independent Life Cycle Assessment.

In this session we’ll explore the benefits of a standard methodology when calculating embodied carbon and efficiencies that can be gained through using systems like RIB CostX.

We will hear from Philip Molineux, Associate Director of Maltbys and Amirul Izzart, Senior CostX Consultant of RIB Software. Amirul will be providing an update on how RIB Software and CostX work, as well as giving project examples, and Philip will dive into the benefits of Quantity Surveyors being involved in Life Cycle Assessments, what efficiency gains there are and what this looks like in a project.

NZGBC’s Joe Quad will be highlighting the work we have been doing on Embodied Carbon, and guiding you through our multiple, free, resources.
