On Friday the 24th of August, the New Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB) will hosting the 25 th edition of their annual awards programme. They are marking this milestone by undertaking a significant refresh of the event, including giving the awards it’s new name and introducing some new focuses.
The refreshing of the iconic NZIOB Awards has been a five-month long project, that started in August 2017. The outcome, is a blend of the strengths of the existing event, with some exciting new initiatives that have been designed to see the programme celebrate its 25 th birthday with style.
One of the award categories The Innovation Award recognises an innovation that is specific to the building industry. The innovation may be a product, a construction technique, a new design application, an emerging technology, or any other facet that has, or will, create value to the building industry.
Globally, the construction industry has been a poor adopter of innovation (World Economic Forum report, 2016).
The Innovation Award encourages either:
- New techniques, technologies, products, or processes that will contribute to lifting productivity through the construction process (design, documentation, delivery), or
- Imbedding value in the resultant building that will be realised by either the property owner or the building inhabitants, post construction.
It is very likely that there are many NZGBC members who have been involved in the development of a product or processes that ticks the box for this award.
The entry fee of $350 + GST if free to any nominee in the Innovation Award Category who is a member of the NZGBC member
See the offer on the Enter the Awards page of the New Zealand Building Industry Awards website. Entries are simple, online, and close on Monday the 11th of May.
The awards evening is being held at the Cordis Hotel, Auckland, on Friday the 24 th of August.
