Meet our interns

We are thrilled to welcome Isabelle and Robbie to the NZGBC whānau. Over the next few months they'll be supporting our Green Star and Homestar teams, and getting involved in NZGBC and Future Thinker events

Kia ora, I’m Isabelle and I'm a Technical Intern at NZGBC predominantly working in the Green Star team. I am an Architecture student at the University of Auckland with an interest in becoming a registered Architect in the future.

Alongside the knowledge and skills I have gained throughout my Architectural studies, I previously worked in a Marketing role gaining analytical and research skills. Both experiences have been valuable for my role working at NZGBC. The values and work NZGBC does correlates with my interest in creating buildings that are healthier for the environment and adopt the Māori holistic view of hauora.

My experience so far working at NZGBC has been rewarding. I’ve been able to learn about the tools NZGBC offers and be a part of the ongoing development of these tools. Being able to connect with like minded people who are passionate about changing New Zealand’s building industry for the better has also been enriching.

The future is looking bright for the building industry and communities in New Zealand with NZGBC, and I hope to be working with them in my future career.

Kia ora, my name is Robbie and I’m currently a Technical Intern at NZGBC and an architecture student at the University of Auckland, starting my Master of Architecture (Prof) in 2022.

Originally from the Nelson & Tasman regions, I have a passion for the outdoors and our environment – which has since become a large part of my design process.

Since moving to Tāmaki Makaurau I’ve worked with Generation Zero, Council and the university on several projects, gaining an interest in the combination of architecture, urban form and a relationship with the wider built environment.

It has been a privilege to work with the amazing NZGBC team, and I haven’t stopped learning since day one. I primarily work on the Homestar team and have worked on various projects – whether it’s technical details, tool performance, education, or Future Thinkers. It’s incredible working on projects like Homestar that are clearly making a tangible difference – and it’s an exciting time for the industry with so much change and optimism.

After a few years of working in Architecture firms, it’s been great to shake it up, and I’m looking forward to continuing to develop my skills and utilise these in my master’s and any future career opportunities.
